Performance Engineer (M/F/X)

Job purpose

The Performance Engineer provide all necessary Operations Engineering and Navigation support for safe and efficient operations of aircraft. She/he assists the Flight Operations department on route optimization, aircraft performance analysis and flight planning system administration in order to constantly improve efficiency of current flight operations. The Performance Engineer supports the Flight Operations Manager. The job holder is required to co-ordinate with all concerned departments like Engineering, Dispatch, Compliance Monitoring, and Safety in order to find and implement the most optimum solution for given problems.

Your responsibilities

  •  Monitor performance level of tools used by the company (i.e. EFB Boeing OPT mobile device)
    o Analyze contents and data
    o Do few statistics
    o Propose and set up guidelines in the matter of fuel efficiency
    o Ensure all IT testing, upgrades and maintenance
    o Take the responsibility for enhancing and optimizing flight planning software
    o define requirements in accordance with the needs of flight operations
    o upgrade the software in accordance with the aircraft specificities (load factor, engine power, fuel consumption…)
    o cross-check manufacturer’s data
  •  Ensure Aircraft Performance data used by CHG BE is in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and gives CHG BE maximum business benefit
  •  Analyze specific crew reports and occurrence reports in order to provide, in coordination with the Flight Operations Manager, the necessary operations engineering solution to the flight operations department
  •  Liaise with CHG BE NAV data providers, (Honeywell, Jeppesen), in order to ensure that the content of the flight management computer (FMC) onboard of our aircraft is in accordance with the latest available data provided and compliant with our network
  •  Ensure that regulated performance for takeoff, in-route and landing (monitoring and update of airport database
  •  Develop enhanced processes of fuel saving and monitoring fuel consumption, including recognition and investigation of performance deficiencies
  •  Ensure that special aircraft performance, such as dispatch with Landing Gear Down or Dispatch under MEL items (Minimum Equipment List) that affect aircraft performance are analyzed and that proper guidance is produced for Crew and dispatch staff in order to have safe operations
  •  Liaise with our flight planning system provider to develop and optimize usage of the flight planning system and actively monitor the performance of the system in order to have a safe and cost effective operation
  •  Evaluate and study new routes and development activity to optimize aircraft operations

Functional Requirements

  •  Higher Education or University Degree and/or preferably qualified in aircraft performance applications
  •  Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a major airline environment, preferably within Flight Operations
